Retirement can bring freedom, possibility and time, perhaps more time than you have had in decades. But leaving work can also mean leaving behind many things you barely noticed work was providing: Structure. Connection. Challenge. Identity. Recognition. Contribution. Belonging. A sense of being needed. So while financial planning asks: Will I have enough to retire? Retirement Horizons asks a different question: How do I want to live when I do? Retirement Horizons helps people move beyond simply stopping work to intentionally creating a next chapter that feels meaningful, engaging and genuinely their own.

Retirement Horizons focuses on life.

Financial security matters enormously. But a good retirement isn't created by finances alone. Retirement Horizons is a psychologically informed, interactive retirement transition program that helps participants explore the personal, psychological and social dimensions of life beyond work. It is not about prescribing the “right” retirement. It isn't about producing another bucket list. And it isn't about telling people they need to find one grand new purpose. Instead, participants are encouraged to think more intentionally about what they want to carry forward, what they may need to replace, what they are ready to leave behind — and what they want to make room for now.

What can Retirement Horizons help you do?

Participants have the opportunity to: Prepare psychologically, not just financially for the transition from working life. Understand what work has really been providing beyond an income — and consider what may need to be recreated elsewhere. Navigate changes in identity when a long-held professional or occupational role begins to recede. Create greater structure and direction for everyday life beyond work. Strengthen connection and belonging rather than waiting until isolation or disconnection becomes a problem. Explore where they want to contribute and matter in the next stage of life. Reconnect with interests, curiosity and parts of themselves that may have been pushed aside during busy working years. Think differently about achievement and productivity and consider what “enough” might mean now. Clarify what they want more of — and less of — in retirement. Move towards retirement with greater confidence, clarity and intention. The goal isn't to emerge with retirement mapped out for the next 20 years.
